Trend Forecast for Spring: "Flatforms"

The relatively flat platform shoe, also referred to as a "flatform," is a quirky and stylish type of footwear that is becoming increasingly popular as spring approaches. The flatform will definitely be incorporated into the wardrobes of many of trend-following teens within the next few weeks because of the comfortable fit and (they can be an) appropriate height for everyday wear. I must throw in that little disclaimer considering I have seen platforms ranging from about 2 inches all the way up to 5 inches which I, personally, wouldn't wear very often. The flatform, usually a sandal-style shoe, has been included in the winter issues of the store magazine from the retailer Urban Outfitters (see photo above for an excerpt) and the teen magazine Seventeen to show the upcoming trends. The magazines have shown that socks or tights can be worn with the shoes to make them wearable in winter as well. Beside from the sandal-type shoe, sneaker or closed toe platform shoes, commonly referred to as "creepers," are also rising in popularity.
