ABOVE is the program from the Community Band Concert.
The Bay Shore Proud Girls team has decided to get an early start on our September give. At our second meeting we met to discuss and brainstorm possible ideas and all agreed that we should start local. In order to give back to the community we chose to host a bake sale at the final Community Band Concert. Since one of the members of our team plays in the Community Band, they were given the responsibility of speaking with the chamber of commerce. After we recieved permission from the village to set up a table at the concert, we wrote a small blurb in the program about Proud Girls. I then contacted the Bay Shore team by email and phone. Each member was told to prepare a baked good and then ask two others to do the same. Then we met up once again to package all of the goods. After everything was wrapped, we organized the cookies, brownies, and other snacks into boxes which were stored in our fridge for one night.
The following day the girls arrived at the Community Band Concert one hour early to set up. We sold so many baked goods that when we met for a fourth time, we began to consider adding a second part to our first give.
On Thursday, August 19th we will be holding another bake sale at the annual Snapper Tourtament to benefit local charities. Like the first sale, we had to contact the coordinators of the event and tell them about the purpose of Proud Girls. They were more than willing to help us.
We plan to use the combined proceeds to help St. Pat's Hospitality Center.
We raised $256.00 in total!
