Diane Prefontaine(left) a media buyer, and Carla Alpert(right) an artist, were introduced through a mutual friend. Together, they founded PROUD Girls Inc. in March 2007 because of their shared passion and mission to change the lives of girls and women across the globe. Their passion emerged from 40+ years of wasting time not feeling pretty enough, thin enough, good enough or smart enough.

PROUD Girls Inc. aims to be the leading company in nurturing girls and women to be confident, independent, conscious-minded, self-starting leaders, through enrichment programs on-line and off-line. It’s active website community is called www.hangPROUD.com.

All with a common interest and goal—to embrace their unique beauty and individual strengths and to use their power to make significant differences in their lives, communities and the world. The purpose of hangPROUD™ is to create an exclusive place where girls and women can connect to find inspiration, build friendships and learn how to change their negative inner dialog into positive action to live a powerful and meaningful life. They teach their mission on-line through the interactive site as well as off-line through their PROUDgirls on the MOVE™ program and school and private workshops.
