Leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal.(1)
More simply, the leader is the inspiration and director of the action. She is the person in the group that
possesses the combination of personality and skills that makes others want to follow her direction.(2)
Since all of you will have the opportunity to be Project Manager and lead a PROUDgive, here are some things to remember as you plan your event.
Select a project that you are passionate about and willing to commit to.
For example: If you love animals, find a way to help animals in your community.
Do the research! Find out what is REALLY needed, versus what you think the cause needs.
Remember that you are there to determine what’s most helpful for the people in need.
Delegate responsibilities to your teammates. (This is IMPORTANT!) A good Project Manager recognizes the individual strengths of the team members and assigns the right task for each person. Remember it’s a team effort and everyone gets a job to complete to achieve the common goal.
Do not wait until the last minute when planning PROUDgives. Make sure calls have been made, dates have been set, plans are in place and supplies are all ready to go with plenty of time to spare. In other words…. don’t procrastinate.
Make sure your Give is documented with video, photographs and blogs. You’ll want to enter it into the contest at the end of the semester.
Stay in touch with your team and on-line Ambassador. Communication is the key to a successful Give.
